
ARTSCAPE ANNOUNCES PERFORMANCES BY KEYSHIA COLE, RYAN SHAW, BURNING SPEAR, LOS LONELY BOYS, THE ISLEY BROTHERS FEATURING RONALD ISLEY & MUCH MORE
ARTSCAPE 2007 is almost here, and the entertainment line up is already filled with some of musics most noted artists. Mayor Sheila Dixon and the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts announce the entertainment schedule for Artscape, the region's premier celebration of the arts, July 20, 21 and 22 from Friday & Saturday from noon to 10 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. centered on the 1200 block of Mount Royal Avenue. Artscape features continuous musical performances by local, regional and national talent including The Isley Brothers featuring Ronald Isley aka Mr. Biggs, Keyshia Cole, Los Lonely Boys, Ryan Shaw, Burning Spear and DJ Impulse all on four outdoor stages. Artscape is free and open to the public.
The Main Stage, Festival Stage, University of Baltimore Stage, and DJ Culture Stage feature free, live music by national, regional and local performers to suit the tastes of all of Artscapes visitors.
The Main Stage hosts a mix of regional and national acts. Some artists highlights on the Main Stage include, eclectic hip-hop duo Nuttin But Stringz, these two Julliard and Bloomingdale School of Music taught teenage brothers have been featured on everything from The Tonight Show with Jay Leno to The Ellen Show. The violin duo plays an intense blending of classical music, jazz, r&b and hip-hop. The Isley Brothers featuring Ronald Isley aka Mr. Biggs is the longest running charted group in music history. They have hits as early as the 1962 smash Twist & Shout, and others such as Its Your Thing, Summer Breeze, and the most recent, Contagious and Down Low featuring R.Kelly. Grammy nominated hip-hop artist Lupe Fiasco, best known for his hit singles Kick Push and Daydreamin, has made an electrifying impact on the music, and is sure to do the same with the crowd at this years Artscape. Soulful R&B singer-songwriter Keyshia Cole brings raw emotions and heart felt songs such as I Shouldve Cheated, Love, and current hit single with Diddy on Last Night. Roots and reggae artist Burning Spear is a Grammy award winning singer and musician and is best known for his Rastafari movement.
The Festival Stage hosts a combination of well-known and up-and-coming regional and national acts. This stage features blues and rock American Grammy winning band Los Lonely Boys. Los Lonely Boys have been around for some time and are best known for chart topping hits such as Heaven and More Than Love. Also playing is Sam Bush, a well accomplished bluegrass vocalist. Ryan Shaw, a dynamic new singer-songwriter, is out to revive the passion and soul of the original rhythm and blues era for the new generation.
His debut album, This is Ryan Shaw, a collection of covers from artists like Bobby Womack, Wilson Pickett, and Jackie Wilson, as well as some original songs, is being well received from all music lovers.
The University of Baltimore Stage is groundbreaking for many new artists. This stage allows local and regional acts such as roots and rock band Damsels, funk and dance band Sould Out, R&B singer Wendy McIntrye and rock band Fools & Horses, to showcase their talent.
The DJ Culture Stage features live bands and dj performances by local, national and internationally known artists. Some of the DJs will include: J Vadim (bbe recordings), Karizma (r2 recordings), Tittsworth (t&a), Pase Rock, Uncle Jesse, DJ Sabo (Sol Selectas) w/ Nappy G on percussion, See-I (esl, dc), DJ Ulken presents Shanta Live, Ndinga (sole channel), Adam Macadam & Mr. Chips, Brooksie (true grooves), Joe nice presents Dubwar (dubstep) and DJ Impulse.
Artscape returns in 2007 with 120+ arts and craftspeople from across the country; visual art exhibits both on and off site; incredible live concerts on four outdoor stages; a full schedule of performing arts including dance, opera, theater, fashion, film and classical music, hands-on projects, childrens entertainers, three street theater locations; and a delicious, international menu of food and beverages.
